Hide Glue Basics (taken from Luscombe's forum)

Glue pots hold around 4 ounces. Suggestion: Commence with 2 ounces of cold water, and put one teaspoon of dry glue into this. The glue should be completely dissolved in the cold water. Then the glue should be heated to approximately 70 C, or 165 F. When the glue is ready, there should be a thin skin on the glue - but beyond that the glue would quickly become too thick. Some put a couple of teaspoons of water into the glue at this point in time.
